Z170 Motherboard

Narta

Hey,

I'm choosing MB for my build with i7 6700k and GTX 1070 and I'd appreciate some help. I'd like it to have SLI for potential upgrade in the future.

I've finde these for reasonable price and I'd like to know your opinions or recommend me some other MB.

Well basicly the Asus Z170-A is a decent mainstraim midrange board, that gets the job done.

I heard it doesn't overclock too well because of the quality of parts it came with. OP might as well get the MSI Z170 Krait Gaming 3X if he's on a budget or Asus Z170 Pro Gaming if he has a few extra money.

CPU: Intel Core i5-6600k 4.4GHz | Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z270F Gaming | Cooler: Cryorig H7 | RAM: GSkill Ripjaws V 8GB 2x4 3200 MHz | GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Gaming X | PSU: Seasonic G-550w 80+ Gold Certified, Semi Modular | Storage: 250GB Samsung 850 EVO, 1TB Western Digital Caviar Blue | Case: NZXT S340 Elite (Black/Red) | Monitor: BenQ XL2411 144hz | Keyboard: Corsair STRAFE RGB Cherry MX Silent | Mouse: Corsair M65 Pro RGB

I'd like to make a Chemistry joke, but all the good ones ARGON. *nudgenudge *winkwink

The overclock potential of Skylake cpu´s mainly depend on the silicon lottery more then the motherboards potential.

Of course the quality of the motherboard´s vrm components and bios still matter.

But with motherboards you mainly get what you pay for.

Cheap boards are cheap because of reasons, one of those reasons is the vrm implementation.

The Asus Z170-A and the Pro gaming are basicly the same board as far as the vrm implementation is concerned.

Msi Z170 krait isnt realy better either.

Gigabyte, Asus, or EVGA... not a huge fan of MSI, just personal humble opinion.

Asus, Asrock, Gigabyte.... MSI out of my list for sure.

Asrock for overclocking, not only great quality but their bios are full of settings to play with.
