Hello, I want to overclock my cpu I've tried some guides but settings are different on my motherboard and I get confused I "succesfully" overclocked it to 4.5ghz but yesterday it crashed while testing out Rise of tomb Raider. What have I done wrong No idea, So I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to teach a noob how to overclock with this motherboard I've looked around, haven't found a single person using this motherboard (asrock -GS4/usb3 fx), here are some pictures of the settings I've got by default and what values should I change to get at least 4.6ghz stable I'm doing this because I want to test things out and see if there is any diference, Thanks in advance

solid guide on how to oc your cpu

Also you may not have a stable clock. if you are getting crashes. Always stress test your cpu and pretty much tweak until you get a stable clock

The stability of any overclock depends mostly on core CPU voltage ("vcore"). For any desired frequency, you have to test for stability, and if it fails, increase vcore, test again, and so on until it is stable.

However, I strongly recommend you don´t do it. This is your motherboard. It doesn't support any CPU above 95W TDP even at stock frequencies. The CPU support list excludes any 8-core CPU )except low power Opterons). You are lucky if it is stable at stock speeds for everyday tasks. You are taking a risk by stressing it at stock speeds. By overclocking, you are literally playing with fire. Stock speeds is risky. Light OC is dangerous. 4.5-4.6 is completely unrealistic, the vcore needed for that will lead to this.

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

your motherboard does not support the FX-8350 as per the asrock website: http://www.asrock.com/mb/NVIDIA/N68-GS4 FX/?cat=CPU

this motherboard is nowhere near available to overclock the 8350 with no EPS CPU (4-pin, no 8-pin) power support, no VRM support, no VRM cooling support.

you'll end up toasting the motherboard with excessive voltage and amperages requests.
