Windows 10 Lock workaround?

A family friend recently passed away and i need to get into his laptop to get some Important documents,the PC was upgraded from windows 8.1 to 10, i cant figure out ANY Way around his password, Boot optiond, NOPE, BIOS, NOPE, Guessing his password? Nope. Any help?

Just remove the HDD/SSD from the system and plug it to yours. You have now access to all content of the drive.

As long as the data is not encrypted, you are good. If it is, then sorry.

Encryption is not enabled by default. And requires Windows Pro edition (unless other solutions was installed and used, like TrueCrypt)

By default Windows drives are not encrypted, unless the OS was a Windows Pro version or one of those rare 32GB/2GB RAM piece of crap ASUS tablets that came with BitLocker enabled.

I'd highly recommend trying what @GoodBytes suggested, as it will more than likely work just fine.

Grab a USB to SATA adapter or enclosure and have a go.

Obviously you'll also need a screwdriver to take the hard drive out of his laptop as well.

If you can get the brand name and model number from the bottom of the laptop, we may be able to find a guide if you're unsure.

Its a dell inspirion 15(The one im trying to get the data off of) I have a different solution to get in, Does the Windows 10 setup media Tool provided by Microsoft just install windows or like the Win7 Installer allow's Custom options like Drive partitioning, CMD Ect
