I know nothing about photography.

I would love a cheap digital camera that has good quality. <£200 UK

Maybe I could splash out more on a better lens at a later point but a basic lens should be in the £200 bracket.

Has anyone get any recommendations?

I apologize,i dont know the rates for how much a euro is compared to a USD but, the Canont3i (550D) is a FANTASTIC camera, at an unbeatable price.

it usually will come with a 18-55mm lens that in my opinion is very good, and isnt just an old standard kit lens.

It may be a little out of your price right now, but i HIGHLY suggest continuing to save money, because it is worth it. This camera will last you a long time, and it can accomodate any Canon lens, so you can always keep buying new lenses.

Any more questions feel free to let me know.

What type of camera are you looking for ie DSLR or Semi-SLR or a point-and-shoot?? That really will determine what you can get at that price point!!

@bill cosby - no offence meant but and the cannon 3ti is a great cam but i dont think its available for $200!!!

You'll have to put in at least £350 or so for the very cheapest DSLR that I know exists, which is the Nikon D3200.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Canon T2i or T3i (otherwise known as 550D and 600D here in Europe as already described above) are definitely the 2 best entry level DSLR's on the market. You should be able to pick them up fairly cheap second hand, although £200 wont suffice. Watch out though, if you fall in love with this world like I did, you will end up spending A LOT of money! ;)

Remember you don't have to buy brand new

I would browse your local Craiglist listings for cheaper, but still in good condition, cameras in your area

For ~$300 USD (~$200 Euro) you could probably pick up a previously loved DSLR in good condition, however, don't expect it to have a bunch of fancy features like the newer ones (No liveview, folding out screens, perhaps uses CF instead of SD, stuff like that)

I had a Rebel XT for a while and it was a good camera, but moved onto a T3i. If you can find the XT in your budget, I recommend it. The 18-55mm kit will do you well in the beginning

Keep in mind, the gear does not make the photographer

I've seen photos taken with an iPhone that will put the majority of shots taken with a FF DSLR to shame

If I were you I would even start practising composition and rudimentary techniques before investing in a more expensive camera, just so you get the feel if you really want to make the plunge or not

Along with others, I would suggest the Canon t3i. Its a great entry-level DSLR, and it has drastically improved my picture quality. Beyond just craigslist or ebay, Canon itself has some great sales on refurbished ones, and you would probably be able to get a new or refurbished t3i for around $400.
