Transferring Data to an SSD

I am thinking of getting an SSD. My current hard drive speeds are brutally slow*. Is it as simple as copying all of my root directory (C:/) to the SSD? If I boot it up will it still load windows after doing this? I was thinking that I might have to create an ISO and load it on like that...

Thanks,

djtravz :)

*Sidenote: I am pretty sure of this because over time of having my computer it has slowed down in boot speed. 30s - 1min - 5min (current)

Thanks,

djtravz

Pretty sure you have to clone your HDD C:Drive to the SSD.

That's not how it works unfortunately

What you need to do is get Macrium to clone it

Get it here: http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.aspx

It will clone (or in simple way copy) all Windows to your SSD. Then it will boot from your SSD all fine

Might need to change boot drive on BIOS too

OK, that's what I thought, but I just wanted to make sure.

If you want to clone/copy Windows to another drive there's a bunch of utilities for that, but I would recommend just doing a clean install and copying your data from the hard drive to the new install.

Here's one: http://www.backup-utility.com/clone/ssd-cloning-freeware-4348.html

✨PC Specs✨

AMD Ryzen 7 3800X | MSI MPG B550 Gaming Plus | 16GB Team T-Force 3400MHz | Zotac GTX 1080 AMP EXTREME

BeQuiet Dark Rock Pro 4 Samsung 850 EVO 250GB | NZXT 750W | Phanteks Eclipse P400A

Extras: ASUS Zephyrus G14 (2021) | OnePlus 7 Pro | Fully restored Robosapien V2, Omnibot 2000, Omnibot 5402

So basically copy all of the files on my old drive to the new drive... Right?

Not copy but use the software. Simple copy paste will not work
