Case air flow

I plan on buying an aftermarket gtx 1080 (or 1080 ti) and aftermarket open coolers keeps the video card temps down better than blower style coolers, but internal PC temp will be hotter. Just wanted to know if there were any tips to keep temps down a notch. I live in Canada and ambient temps are usually cool here, but can get really hot as well. My desk setup is in a corner not too far away from the window, but blowing the air out the window isn't an option.
I plan on putting my PC on the desk, but it will have to be a little close to the wall.

Case: Fractal design define S

CPU cooler: noctua NH-D15s

I had Vardar FF5-120 once in my PC, basically cooled the whole room while also making the neighbors call the cops for noise complaints.

AKA 107CFM per fan magic.

The Define S is a really good cooling case, two intake fans and a rear exhaust (all 140mm variety, the GP-14 fans included are pretty decent all things considered) is more than enough for a single high end gpu build.

I have the define S, I use three NF-A14 as intake all in the front and a NF-A14 industrial PPC-3000 as exhaust in the rear position.

Io plate removed and pci covers are also removed.

I also have the same CPU cooler, cooling a 6600k @ 4.5, 1.312 vcore. Gigabyte GTX1070G1 stock.

Keeps GPU and CPU nice and cool. All fans set to a curve and don't really even ramp up. Maybe 1200 rpm.

Gpu fans ramp up to about 2000rpm.

None of these fans are audible while gaming and are pretty quite in this case while idle. I wouldn't however put case on my desk with this set up, I keep mine on the floor under my desk.

Example: Witcher III, ambient temp 24c, GPU 55c, CPU 36c. Same ambient, Idle GPU 26c and CPU 25c

Why not on the desk? Too big?

PC isn't built yet, still in the planning and buying stage. I'm just trying to figure out my budget or if I would need to spend more money (I hope not). I plan on getting some noctua case fans to add to replace the stock case fans and add to the case (though I've been told to simply add to the case as replacing the case fans is unnecessary).

I see. So replacing the stock fans is unnecessary?

That and the noise from your system will be right at ear level.

I think regardless of how quiet your cooling, there may be enough noise to be irritating.

You should post what you are planning to buy and if you are going to overclock gpu and or cpu.

Yes I plan on overclocking, but not right away. I believe the noctua fan will be enough, but when I overclock I'm thinking of getting an AIO cooler

You should see how the stock fans perform before deciding on whether or not to buy more.

Yeah that's the plan. Just thought if someone who has the case could give me a preview of how it is

It's a box with good dust filters and plenty of fan mounting options.

Define S is pretty good for cooling. I would recomend just having case fans blowing towards the GPU as much as possible. With your case either static preasure or airflow fans would yeild results but you would see bigger gains with airflow. You want to try and have a bottom mounted fan blowing upwards because it will push the hot air towards the top of the case where top and rear mounted exhaust will help pull it out of the case. If the hot air passes through the CPU cooler you shouldn't see an impact on CPU temps to any meaningful degree (no pun intended). I would only recommend front nounted fans if there are drives that need cooling or as a last resort.

Okay. So if I choose to get an extra case fan, mount it at the bottom to blow air towards the top of the case?

Yes, it's my current case.

It's what I would first do.

Wont comment on AIO, other than from my own research they didn't seem worth the cost.

I feel the my NH-15S has left me with plenty of head room as far as temps go.

I found that the three front, one rear exhaust fan setup that I have has performed the best. There is a point of diminishing returns as far as case fans go and in your much cooler climate(I'm in SO CA) I think that you may not need the airflow that I do.

I must admit that cooling has become a hobby for me in of its itself, just how I chose to roll.

Your build looks good, I hope you have as much fun putting it all together and configuring it to suit your needs,  as I have with mine.
