1000 WATTS

i just need a 1000 watt power supply. it sound like over kill for a msi 970 motherboard and a gtx 770 or 790(rated at 750 watts on pc part picker) but i might do sli or crossfire in the future and water cooling. so i need a good power supply in the 1000 watt range for about 100 dollars.

Why 770 or 790? You can get less power hungry 480/470 for similar performance

You should also know that 750W is enough for most dual GPU systems.

you can probably use a 500w psu.

 

id stay away from dual gpu.

 

also a 790 doesnt exist

More sutters, bad game support bad scaling.

 

Just buy a newer single gpu. Id stay away from a 780 or any 7xx gpu and get a 10xx gpu or amd rx 4xx gpu's.

o ok im just looking at the compatibilty chart thing for my mb and the 780 was the best..... can i disregard it or what

i am planning on getting some new gpu and an all in one cpu cooler some were in the vain of mater 92

Do you have both a gtx 970 and a 770, cause they won't work together at all.

i have a 770 and i'm looking to upgrade it 

 

it rated at 3.8 GHz and you can overclock it to 4.1 GHz. i don't see why i need to

Id get a gtx 1070 or 1060 or rx480

 

For the cpu. Its much slower than a core i3 in games. AMD cpu's are much slower for the same clock speed and core count than a intel cpu.

but on the chart that tells me whats compatible with my mb it doesn't say any of the 10__ gpus

 

what should i get then if AMDs sooooooo slow. im just super loyal to AMD because i own like $150 in AMD stock. but id get intel if its sooo much better

The gpu's will work. There are standards that let any pcie gpu work in any pcie motherboard.

This is a comparison between your cpu and a i5. Id keep your cpu for now, but its probably a good idea to change it if you upgrade your gpu again.

ok makes sense i just don't want to buy a $200 gpu and then it not work. im in high school don't have a lot of cash money dollar dollar.

Id wait on the cpu. Maybe upgrade it 1-2 years from now.

There fine, but id save up for the new cpu rather than a cooler. Id personally get a air cooler instead. THere normally cool better and are quieter.

Look at the CX750M for a Semi-Modular Power Supply, The CX series isn't actually that bad believe it or not. Very reliable on gaming.
