Prep for dual 970's

Go to solution Solved by TheMaximumNerd,

Thanks for all the help I really appreciate it.

I'm considering buying another 970 for better performance in games. I just wanted to know if there is anything I should know before purchasing another 970. If you could explain the process of what i'm suppose to do, because I am almost clueless on what to do that would be great. If you could also tell me if my PC isn't strong enough that would also help.

PC Specs

i5 4690k (stock cooler, my water cooler died sadly)

MSI z97s Krait SLI edition

16gb ram

1000w gold power supply

GTX 970 4gb

Thanks for the help in advance

That's a terrible idea. Sell your existing 970 for as much as you can and throw it towards a 1070 instead. Chances are that if you're considering buying another 970, you already have at least $250 to spend.

All you need is an SLI bridge. Also the money you would spend on a second 970 is not worth it. I would recommend buying a new card for example a 1070 or 1060. Its newer and draws less power. Also saves you from buying a new GPU latter down the line. Also reduces the heat generated.

Name of PSU? 1000W is easily enough, just want to check its reliable. Its generally better to buy the single most powerful graphics card you can afford rather than two less powerful ones as some games scale better than others. I would just buy a new 1070 and sell your old 970 if needed.
