RX480 or 1060

Im deciding between 3gb 1060 or 4gb rx480

 

the only reason i dont really want is AMD is because im not a huge fan of their catalyst control center, whereas NVIDIA's control panel is a lot nicer, not to mention NVIDIA has shadowplay and more games seems to be optimised for it

there's a £25 difference, but idk what to choose.

Performance wise, ik the 480 is better, but am i willing to give up the nvidia control panel, idk

If i were to spend more on a GPU, i'd have to limit what i spend on a cpu and potentially even a mobo, im not buying until christmas, so if prices come down before then (black friday comes to mind) then i'll try pick one up then .

K otherwise I'd probably go 480 4gb as the bit of extra VRAM will help in turning up some settings higher.

AMD has their own recording software, but either way I recommend becoming familiar with OBS and recording with that.

 

Now if what you don't like about Catalyst Control Center is the overclocking bit, you can use a third party tool like MSI Afterburner or ASUS GPU Tweak. Other options like screen resolution can be accessed through the desktop settings in Windows.

 

A strong case for choosing AMD is that you get the option of Freesync if you want to upgrade your monitor, it's $200 cheaper than Gsync and very valuable for the sake of smoother gaming performance.

Very true. Try and find a 1080p Ultrawide with Gsync for under 800... but freesync ones can be had for 200-300

I'll pass on 2560x1080 until there's an affordable option at 100+ refresh

i think you up you budget and get a msi gaming x gtx 1060.because it can be overclock.

Catalyst CC is "dead", they replaced it with Radeon Settings and it looks many times nicer than Nvidia CP.

Window 10 XBOX app gameplay recording support AMD VCE and it works really great for me, i also use it for Nvidia card because GFE 3 is bloated as fuck.

G-sync expensive as hell though hahahaha. I like AMD Freesync price.

b) you can OC 99.99% of all consumer-grade GPUs, that is not a logical statement at all
