So, what I'm trying to do with my GPU heatsink would probably fall under "so crazy, even Linus wouldn't try it." But basically, the story situation is as follows: I'm considering liquid cooling my CPU (i7 4790k) and I decided to go with the Alphacool Eibaer since it's expandable and provides a good foundation for a custom loop, but I purchased a Zotac 1070 Amp Extreme Edition, and as far as I know there are no blocks available for it. So what I decided to do, was I unscrewed the cooler off my card (warning this thing is beastly) and found that all the components that are required to be cooled pretty much sit under a large copper square attached to the heat pipes. As you can see in this

picture, the GPU, memory and I believe the VRMs sit directly underneath what I will now refer to as "the block."

What I figured I could do is that since there is no circuitry in the way, I could remove some of the heat fins and mount this cold plate on top of the existing GPU plate: http://www.performance-pcs.com/koolance-gpu-230-cold-plate-45mm-x-45mm-1-8in-x-1-8in.html

Or this one, depending on which one will fit: http://www.performance-pcs.com/swiftech-apogee-lp-socket-775-1156-1366-low-profile-cpu-water-block.html

Then I could just pass the tubes out of the side of the card where all I would have to do is take off the insane wrap around backplate and remove some it as in the following picture:

IMAG0074.jpg

As you fine folks can see, those four screws basically outline the the block on the air cooler. I would rout the tubes to the side which should be easy since the cold plates I linked both have inlet and outlet holes pointing out on one side rather than straight up like most CPU water blocks. I would make an inch or two of the metal that wraps around the side of the card to clear the tubes.

Here's a picture of the PCB in case there's something I might have missed. Sorry for the overexposure, my phone is retarded.

Since I'm kind of on a budget and don't feel like spending $100 on an ever kill DDC pump, I started looking around for cheaper pumps and found this: http://www.performance-pcs.com/alphacool-laing-ddc310-single-edition-silver.html#Customer-Reviews

Would anyone actually recommend this or should I stay clear and just by a DDC like everyone else? I'm thinking of just going with a full custom loop instead of using the included Alphacool Eisbaer pump since the performance is significantly worse than that of a DDC or even a D5 and I didn't think it could handle two blocks, a 360 rad and a 240 or 120 rad all at the same time.

Any thoughts? I'm also using a Corsair 400C case for those of you wondering.

There likely wont br a waterblock for your card because zotac already made their own card with a block.

other companies arent going to waste the time and effort to make something that is unlikely to sell.

They made a block for the 1080, not the 1070

Eh, I was going for something more attractive. Plus, I know the Kraken g10 exists.
