Hello!

I am in the process of finalizing parts for my new build. I want to be clear about the fact that although I am touting it as a gaming build,

(1) I want the setup to be capable of doing more than gaming. I am not a content creator but I like to have enough power and it appeals to my Computer Science bone.

(2) I want to not throw away my money at ludicrous parts but I want to be future proof.

(3) I don't want any of the parts to be bottlenecked by one another.

(4) I am fine with spending a little extra towards utilizing better technology now (such as M.2 solid state drives with higher speeds) than upgrading again a year later.

(5) The M.2 SSD I have chosen isn't available for purchase from any reputed seller so suggestions on that point would be much appreciated.

(6) Any other suggestions are most welcome. This build is going to cost me about $2500 INCLUDING PERIPHERALS and I am definitely not looking to spend more since I already am in the region of the "Law of Diminishing Returns".

(7) Finally, here's a link to my potential build: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/tVpjnn

You are not a heavy content creator so i will suggest you to buy a 6700k & a z170 mobo....save money from these components & buy a gtx 1080....6800k is of no use if you don't use your pc for productivity + 6700k is slightly better in gaming as compared to a 6800k & it can also be used for content creation.

Great build, only thing i would change is the cooler. I think that  beast (CPU) deserves better cooling =)

I agree the cooling is not bad but its your typical low to mid end build a better cooling is what i would suggest

I agree with you guys but I don't plan to overclock any time soon. Therefore, the said CPU cooler might be good enough. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. :)

I completely agree with you about going with i7-6700K instead of 6800K. I have been stuck with that question myself and I believe that my ultimate listing of 6800K is based on vanity and jumping on-board the X99 platform. I also appreciate the fact that you went on and suggested a build to go with your opinion. Double thumbs up for that. What I don't agree with is including the GTX 1080 unless I spend extra on a 4K monitor and have the rest of the setup amped up to go with it, in which case I would be better served in waiting a few more years before prices for 4K equipment have settled down.

Going for a x99 platform is of no use if you are not a content creator (it just supports extra ram & cpus with higher no. of cores) . 6700k also performs better than 6800k in every task that prefers higher clock speed.

1080 will still outperform a 1070 at 1080p or 1440p & it is also a better option for content creation. Thus this build is more future proof for your use.
