Hey, in my old PC I had an i7 (it died) and I use to be able to play any game on one screen while watching a movie or Youtube on the other. After getting a whole new rig I got an i5-6600K and now if I try watching a movie, Youtube, etc, the video will sometimes completely freeze in certain instances like processing the next turn in Civilization V. Is this because an i5 is worse at multitasking or do you think something else is going on? It's really annoying because I let the person at the store influence me into 'saving' $200 by going for the 6600K vs the 6700K but now one of the main things I like to do on my computer is hindered quite a bit.

Thanks in advance!

Did it die in the power surge stuff?

If so, have you tried RMA'ing it? 4790k should still be in warranty.  Just tell them it stopped working, you don't need to elaborate any more than that.  Intel has literally one of the best RMA policies on the PC market.  I've had friends delid & reseal their chips, kill their chips with 1.8+ volts, and intel has replaced all of them.

Stuff:  i7 7700k @ (dat nibba succ) | ASRock Z170M OC Formula | G.Skill TridentZ 3600 c16 | EKWB 1080 @ 2100 mhz  |  Acer X34 Predator | R4 | EVGA 1000 P2 | 1080mm Radiator Custom Loop | HD800 + Audio-GD NFB-11 | 850 Evo 1TB | 840 Pro 256GB | 3TB WD Blue | 2TB Barracuda

It's $450 in Canada :/ Is Kaby Lake worth waiting for or will it just be a small bump?

Well that's completely up to you.  In overall performance you'd see the typical 10% or so improvement, but in some very specific areas such as video encoding/decoding, you may see a big leap as the new video engine is supposed to be a pretty big improvement.

Do a search and read up on the video engine and see if it's something you'd like.  If not, just grab a 6700k or RMA your 4790k like @Lays suggested.

Thanks for the help. I'll probably just wait for Kaby Lake - if anything the 6700K will go down in price and then I can snatch it up. My computer doesn't run slow by any means, I just can't watch videos while playing a CPU Intensive game.
