ITX Tower case

mapegl

I want to do a build for a friend. He basically told me, 1000-1500 EUR and that's it. He only wants to game at 1080p, so I will try to stay around the 1000EUR, which should work out well.

Now I am pretty good with components ( I know exactly what I want to get, so I don't need suggestions on video cards etc.) and I won't try to squeeze every last bit out of it, BUT I want to get a decent itx case and so far haven't had too much luck with that. They always end up being not that great on GPU cooling or CPU cooling or both. :(

So yeah mostly I have the Fractal Define Nano S in mind or the Phanteks Evolv ITX.

I want dust filters and full size components other than the small motherboard.

I want something that still has decent quality, and nothing too shabby. I mean he doesn't care if I spend 100EUR more or less, so I was thinking that getting quality components now will save some money over time.

wanted features

  • dust filters on ALL intakes (and if there is an open top.....well that is a big no-no, dude is a smoker and does so indoors)
  • decent cooling for GPU and CPU
  • sturdy build/ good quality
  • nothing too flashy/ nothing that screams "I'm a gamer!"

Any other suggestions that don't break the bank? I mean the Manta is nice, but more than 1.5x the price of the Evolv and almost double of the Nano S.

I wish there was like an S340 for ITX........

Have you considered just modding intakes with some dust proof material.

Its very inexpensive and can provide great results.

Cooling suffers as a result but all you need to do is increase the intake then and optimize airflow.

i personally have the evolv itx and its really wide, both cases are begging for custom water cooling, but if you want a "no gamer screaming" case id go with the nano s as its a much more sleek case as the evolv as much more angles and a more agressive look

Yeah but considering the kind of components I will be putting in the system, water cooling would be a waste of money.

Have you had experience with air cooling in this case or did you watercool right away?

How were the temperatures on the 980ti? I mean that is a high wattage card, so that should give me an idea what to expect.

Not a bad case, but very expensive here in Germany and screams gamer imho.

Thanks anyways.
