So I am thinking about getting new good headphones that cost max 200€. So I found out, that Sennheiser are okay for gaming cuz of positional audio  and for listening to audio in terms of clarity and Bass. What do you guys think, are they worth it or can you recommend other options. I'd be buying off from amazon.de

thanks in advance,

Tiwaz

At that budget i think i will stick to the HD598 (home use) or AKG K612 Pro (home use) or Beyerdynamic dt770 80/250 ohms (if youre mobile).

But if youre just gaming get a SHP9500 + vmoda boompro (my current setup) or ATH AD500X/700X + modmic.

Just my 2cents. However please do have a quick read here.

Audio boards recommended gear.

I have a set of HD598's. Had them for, must be around 5 years or something now.

They're fantastic for what I want. They're open backed - So you can still hear the room a little.

They're reference level headphones, so they have a fairly flat response curve.

Meaning that what you're hearing is what was recorded. (No emphasis on Bass, Mid or Treble frequencies)

And I think I paid around £170 all that time ago, and they're still good today, and I don't see a need to replace them anywhere near in the future.

A worth while purchase in my eyes.

Just a note though, the HD598's have a 1/4" jack as their connector. So you will need an adapter to use it with a 3.5mm output, or get some kind of Audio Interface. Like this one:

Have a look at different suggestions i made, especially AKG K612 Pro, Just add up a modmic and youre good to go :)

But DT770 and K612 pro have a fix cable tho.

Well... It's down to personal preference then xD

From my experience the hd558 are close to hd598. Do a simple mod and you can turn your 558 to a 598. Get a 2.5 to 3.5 adaptor + v-moda boompro and you get an awesome gaming headset.

Or just get straight up a HD598, they are already good out of the box :D

Never the less, i will just wait for someone with more experience to give suggestions :D

Yes they have an detachable cable but that ends on the mini AUX plug thingy so it's NOT compatible with the Beyerdynamic mic from the COPs.

I'd still really recommend the 598s, they are awesome headphones for the money.

They have a 3.5mm cable plug for you pc and come with an adapter to 6.35mm afaik but the plug that goes into the headphones is 2.5mm.

Modmic clips onto any cable so...

No it does not, you would have to figure out a microphone setup, I have a studio condenser microphone, Behringer C1 on a boom arm plugged into the Interface I linked along with the 598's. Works very well together.

Overall, they're fantastic.

As I already have a microphone setup, I don't see any need to ever upgrade/replace them until they break. And after ~5 years, it's like they're still new!

If you can also have a separate Microphone setup, I can't recommend them enough.

My full audio setup is this:
HD598's
Behringer C1
M-Audio BX5 Studio Monitors
Focusrite Scarlet 4i4 Interface.

Around £400 in total.
(Rough guess based on memory and what I paid at the time)

But I couldn't ask for anything better for a PC audio set up.

Guys, you know that once you start going up the price, when something costs twice as much than the version below, then you will maybe get 5% better quality, thats how it works, the higher the price, the worse the price/performance ratio
