is it smart to run two anti virus on your computer.  for example im running eset anti virus and malwarebytes.  can running both of these programs acually slow down my computer or is it beneficial to run both?

Will it slow down your computer ? possibly, if they are both actively scanning and running background processes then it will use the CPU, RAM and HDD 

is it beneficial? yes

No, it is absolutely not smart to run two full security suites on a single computer.

It slows down the PC since both security suites interfere with each others' scanning processes.

 

However, please note that MBAM is not a full security suite and is actually meant to supplement a security suite.

I run both malwarebytes and a antivirus. I do not have any issues. Malwarebytes is not a full antivirus. People will say yes or they will say no. With my machine I do not have any issues or conflicts.
