Most important is same voltage, different speed/cas/capacity doesn't have much of a impact

If I were to have 2 of these

and 2 of these

would that cause me any problems??

It shouldn't be a problem both are 1.35 voltage, roughly the same cas/speed

what do you need  48 gigs of ram for though?

I don't, I just wanted to upgrade to 32gb but then thought "hey, I wonder if I can just slot them in with my existing kit to get even more ram" rather than sell them on

still undecided as to whether I wanna just sell them on or keep them though haha

I assume you made sure your motherboard supports 16GB DIMMs?, if so then, like Aytex wrote, it shouldn't be a problem.

According to this it supports 64gb max, and seeing as there are only 4 slots on the board then I would assume so? :)
