I'm looking for a good chair for my desk setup. I've been using a really crap one for a while and the height adjust mechanism just completely died and it's now stuck at the lowest setting. So at the moment I'm using a wooden kitchen chair.

So:

Do I need a "gaming" chair?

I know there are other brands besides DXRacer, but are they all basically the same?

If not, is there a good comparison of the different brands?

Other recommendations?

Guess it all comes down the preference, I tried a couple of those race bucket type chairs in a shop and didn't like them. Feels like I should be sitting in a char strapped to it with a 5point harness...

I usually go for something with a full back and padded seat with lumbar support. Something I can sit cross legged one or in proper alignment for long work sessions. Or nice and comfy to put my feet up on the sub under my desk and watch a movie.

Most of the racer type chairs I've tried just give me a sore arse after an hour or so.

EDIT: think this is the same one I bought http://www.milandirect.com.au/office-furniture/office-chairs/mesh/manhattan-ergo-office-chair-multi-adjustable

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

Are there any that are under $200? Trying not to spend too much at the moment.

Depends where you are mate, US is about that much for most chairs.  A lot of office stores have a few on display you can try out, I got mine from a liquidation auction for an office.

I'm in the US so I'll probably head to some office stores and try some out. I have no idea what I like at all in terms of chairs xD
