Hey all i have a question that could safe me some money

 

My school offers a special windows 10 pro, and they gave me the product key (a 25 character code). But they said you can only use it as an upgrade.

But you already need to have windows installed on your pc in order to do the upgrade. 

I want to build a new pc but i need windows for it. So i asked if you can you that product key in the Media creation tool and they said it only works if you already have windows...

So my question is... Can i use that code in the creation tool because what they said doesnt make sense.

If the code can be used to upgrade, the code can be used to clean install.

There is no "special code" which only works to upgrade.
