Problems with using 1080p on 4k screen

Hi guys,

I have been scrambling all over the internet searching for a solution.

Here's the situation: I am having a laptop,  Acer vn7-591g,  with a gtx 860m 4gb ddr5 and A 4K SCREEN comes with it. The point is, the panel is great,  but it draw so much power my battery can only last 1h or so,  moreover, my workload with pts and illustrator seem to be laggy and slower when running on this resolution. So I decided to scale it back to 1080p, but as soon as I did that, everything became blurry, I dont know if there is anyway to make thing like text,  icon...  sharper when using 1080 resolution. 

Sorry for the long post,  I would really appreciate if someone get me through this cuz this just driving me crazy!!!

A lot of 4k screens can't scale down to 1080p very well.  The result is text and objects take on a more blurry and fuzzy look.  There are 4k monitors that do it well, but their not the majority.

So by which, u mean that there's no way for me to have a sharp 1080p on that 4k screen right?

More or less.  My Samsung 4k does a great job of maintaining sharpness when scaled down to 1080p, but I have read of many others having blurring type issues when they reduce resolution.

Sadly this happened, however there's any software that can handle this scaling thing by aby chace?   I still hesitate to go back to the native 4k

Yeah, unfortunately 4k is not quite perfect yet.  At least not on its own.  I now run it in combination with a 3440 x 1440 ultrawide and I'm finally happy.

 

As far as software to better handle scaling, I don't know of any.  You could try running the ClearType wizard once you've switched to 1080p, but I doubt that it will help much with overall sharpness.

Nope. Id replace your battey and check if optimus is working right(turning off gpu). A 4k screen won't make your laptop have a 1h battery life.

I check all the review and the overall statement of this laptop battery life is the same, 1h - 2h, and by 1h I mean 70% brightness with Optimus running, browsing 4 chrome tab with 45 mins watching utube, so I dont think it's the battery fault
