oh ok, yeah u should be good, b/c it will just mirror image the drive and u should not have to reinstall anything, make sure u keep the same drive letter though

I have an HDD in my PC at the moment which, according to the S.M.A.R.T. readings, is on its way out. Using Chronos Drive Manager it was given 15% health because of too many reallocated sectors.

I have bought a new drive today and am prepared to start cloning it to the new drive. Will I just be able to remove the old one and replace it with the new one or will there be issues with programs not recognizing the new drive? Do I have to do some registry editing to make it work?

EDIT: I am trying to make sure that I wont have to reinstall things like my 2TB steam library.

Thanks in advance

if u can, download acronis true home and create and boot the media rescue disk and clone drive, u don't need to have any registry editing. that is if ur drive will support it

They are both Seagate Barracuda 3TB drives. One from about 6 years ago and one from today. Do you think this would work?

yes, if u r just replace the HDD, i do this all of the time with changing out drives, i have done the same with my HDD to SSD or vice versa, i use Acronis and it does a full image or u can use the windows image backup and restore if u have windows 7, 8 or 10

I cant find a free version of that (I dont have the money to buy it at the moment). Will Clonezilla do the job?
