GPU Upgrade

Hey guys,

A few months ago I asked on here for recommendations on upgrading my system, and we figured that a GPU would be the best option all things considered. At the time, the 750TI looked like the best card for my purposes, given my mobo is a EVGA 132-BL-E758. It has PCI-e 2.0 x16 slots, so I know I can't make the most of the latest in GPU tech. Since then the new generation of GPUs has come out, and I've seen some incredibly positive things said about them. What video card would y'all recommend now for a system limited to PCI-e 2.0 x16? Not looking to break the bank here... Thanks!

RX 480 or GTX 1060. Tbh, any gpu would work at 2.0. PCI E 2.0 or 3.0 won't make a difference at all.

Depends on your cpu too. I would go with 1070 if your cpu won't bottleneck it

PCI-E 2.0 x16 will not limit any GPU setup unless you want to do HPC using 4+ GPUs.

I would say any Polaris GPU which fits your budget as AMD needs help and the cards are on par with Pascal with GFLOPS/Watt, which means they can be improved more with drivers.

You're kidding me. I would've thought that 2.0 x16 would be replaced by something better by now... My rig is 8 years old! Good for me I guess My CPU is a 1st gen i7 920, since that could matter.

they have done tests and all you need to not bottleneck the best gpus is 8 lanes of 2.0 or 4 lanes of 3.0 so 16 lanes of 2.0 is more than enough
