win10 32bit to 64bit

Go to solution Solved by jonnylaw13,

well if you dont wipe the drive windows stores all the user files in it own folder, good to know, running restore now, fingers crossed! thanks for the help!

a little backstory of my ignorance..

back when Win8 was released i jumped on the $40 intro price and upgrading the Toshiba Satellite i was using then (was given to me for free) i really knew squat about software then so i went with the auto select and ended up with Win8 Pro 32bit now 4 PCs later of using the "free upgrades" from 8 to 8.1 to 10, now knowing more about computers then i did then and trying to get more into PC gaming over console gaming im running into more and more limitations due to my 32bit Windows. i know ill have to reinstall all of my apps/programs in the 64bit versions but what would be my best course of action to not loose and transfer my media (photos and music (itunes) to a reformatted drive with 64bit version of windows installed. also i need to migrate 2 windows profiles of stuffs. the boot/storage drive im using (zotac 120gb ssd) is the one i plan on using for the 64bit. also i do have plenty of good working spare HDs for any back and forthing.. i know it should be as simple as just moving the folders but the other day i moved my "pictures" folder to my mass storage drive (WD blue 1tb) and windows freaked out and went into repair disk after a few boot-loops until i moved the folder back to the boot drive/users system files..

thank you in advance for suggestions and help

Apps dont need to be 64bit to run in Windows 64. You have to move all your stuff over as backups, wipe and reinstall windows 64, then move it back. Not a whole lot else to do. Bite the bullet.

Just a tip for you, but don't try and MOVE the data, as it could be important as you found out to the OS.. instead copy it to a USB drive if you have one. This way the computer will continue to function normally until YOU decide it's time to switch over.

copy is what i did, my issue may have been that i copied the "pictures" file from "users" in "system files"
