Coz you need Z170 to OC it and if you're not going to OC the CPU, then buying a K processor is a waste.

Stick with i5 6500.

cpu : I5 6600k

Cpu cooler: 212 evo

Mobo: Asus H110I-Plus D3

Case: 200r

Crucial Ballistix Sport DDR4 PC19200/2400MHz CL16 8GB (BLS8G4D240FSA)

psu:

Seasonic M12-II Evo 520W

The rest of my build is in my signature.

This is for upgrade and not a whole new computer.

It seems like z170 costs almost double the price of my mobo.
I guess i'll go i5 6500 then..
I'll try to revoke the order, thanks.

Yes it is.

Skylake CPUs can use either DDR4 or DDR3 (or DDR3L) memory, depending on the motherboard. The one you picked is DDR3.

Skylake can take DDR3 and DDR4, just depends on which one the board supports. The one you chose supports ONLY DDR3.

Better if you can tell us where you're buying all these parts then we work from there.

This is a tranwreck of a build lol, I'm glad you asked us instead of just buying. In my opinion get a cheap Z170 board and fitting RAM.

I don't think there is a z170 of similar pricing.

I think it is easier if I go i5 6500 instead.

I had it for my 6300 and I heard it was good cheap cooler, for its price.
I was thinking going for 4.3 or 4.2 ghz.
It should be enough for that?

If you already have the cooler, you don't need to put it on the 'upgrade list'.

Not all CPU on the intel side is overclockable, if you want to overclock so much, you have to pay premium for K processor and Z170 board.

I just wanted to overclock a (little) bit above default clock (3.9).

I own one but I thought about buying a new one since I have had it for 2 to 2.5 years and it is better to sell my old cpu with a cooler.
