Hello! I'm a new member here. Not that anyone would really care, but meh. :P

So when I come to a new website for the first time I always do a "Ad-Block test". Meaning that I turn off ad-block to see if the site uses annoying ads, or if they are okay and out of the way.

If the ads are easy to ignore, then I keep ad-block off and let the owners reap the revenue.

Now is it just me, or is that only ad here a still, non-sticky square up in the top right corner? Because I can't find a second one.

If that is actually the only one, then does the LMG know they can appeal to the "ad-block plus" group and be put on the non-intrusive white list?

For those that don't know, Ad-Block Plus has a small white list that is automatically active when ad-block is installed, this list is reserved for sites that can prove they do not have annoying ads

You can read more about it here: https://adblockplus.org/en/acceptable-ads  I believe that this site does qualify to be put on this white list.

Admittedly, I'm not supper confident about how ads work on the internet, and I'm not sure if it would even be worthwhile for the LMG to deal with kind of stuff. But it's a thought that I had,

and I didn't find any other threads with the a similar topic.

as far as i know there is indeed only 1 ad in the left corner, which is totaly fine for any pesron that is a little reasonable with adds, especially since it is a relevant ad to the forums for many people, and if i remember correct they mentiond the adblock whitelist thing in last weeks wanshow.

Also you are not the only person that does the ad block test and more people should IMO,

also hi, how are you doing?

hey there

and yeah, the ads are not that intrusive and kind of relevant here. I say kind of, because many ads feature American stores (like NCIX and Microcenter) which is only half relevant for a non-American like me.

Hi - you make good points, but there's one thing you're not considering.

It costs money for LMG to submit LTT as an acceptable ad-supported site, to get auto-whitelisted. They've commented on it several times. I have no idea how much the fee is, mind you.

I wouldn't be surprised if OP is exactly the right person to ask, able and willing to explain all details about amazing ad-block plus! In fact, I just happen to have the contact details of the sales department right here besides me!

But maybe I'm wrong and OP is genuinely a new, not-ad-block-related forum member :P

I'm not actually sure how much, if anything, it would cost LTT. Ad-Block defines that small to mid sized sites can apply free, but large sites have to pay a fee so the ad-block team can make sure that all of there pages are clear. I'm not sure where this site would fall into that, considering it's simplicity that's nearly inheirent with a forum based site.

I'd imagine they make the distinction based on pageviews, and not much else.

A forum like LTT has a lot of traffic per day, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the mid-sized free category, or if they were too large and fell into the large category. I feel like it could easily go either way.
