PSU issue

NecroFlex

Ok so i initially thought this was an issue with Haswell, but it's not, i got a PSU that works on a P4 mobo but anything above that it doesn't want to power it on. 478 it has no issue, 775 or above it doesn't wanna work. Does anyone have a clue as to why, on the 1155 board the small LED was glowing a bit green, but nothing happened, when i plugged in another PSU the light was brighter, if that helps.

Any ideas help :)

Need to know a lot more about the PSU.

Make and model? 12 volt amperage ratings?

Pentium IV @ 4.4ghz , 8GB DDR2, R9 380 4GB, 2560x1440p monitor.

What PSU?

Its probably a cheap one that doesn't like the extra power draw.

Yes it's a cheap one, i got it with a P4 system, didn't expect much from it since it LC Power, but i hoped atleast that it would be enough for the 775 system.

It is perhaps quite decent for an old supply but you should definitely replace it, it's innards are not designed for long life.

Nvm, i tested something and it's strange. If i flip the back switch and try to power on it doesn't, but if i flip the back switch and wait a bit, it'll then power on when i press the power button, might be the capacitors at fault?

Yeah caps sound close to blowing or are just failing to hold current.

Replace it ASAP.
