Hello, I am fairly new to servers but i love to tinker and my father wants a solution so CCTV, nightly backups and movies. I would like to know your feedback and if anyone could let me know if this would even work? Thanks.

Nightly backup OR just have my dads PC files on the server.

That server isn't fitting in that cabent. Its only 19 in deep, while most server are over 3' deep

 

Id buy a single server and run some vm's. Look at a dell c2100 or a r710.

 

You don't need those rack fans and they won't help as there aren't any vents on the top or bottom of the server

 

Just gonna say it, that server is going to be loud.

 

Your power stip is a rack shelf.

Then id get a unify ap or two

Then id run something like centos on the server, install ovirt for vms, makde a raid 5 in something like md, make a vm for the router(routher is the same box as the server)

That server will definitely not fit in that server cabinet

All of your equipment is pretty ballin' except for your router, I will search for an adequate router for you. Please let me know if you have any additional Ethernet devices or plan on putting cabling in the walls in the future.

Also please note that the server will be deafeningly loud. You will have to dedicate a room to it. Don't plan on thinking anywhere within 8 feet of it.

I already have a 48 port switch, and the router is just in place so that when we upgrade soon (internet provider) we will not have to re-pair all of the printers PCs ect.

That shouldn't be a thing. 

 

Run your own router and the isp has no control.
