Won't matter. Upgrade the laptop with a Solid State and your machine will be leagues faster. That and upgrading to 8GB of RAM will help too. :)

Your CPU is already a high-end mobile processor - no sense in upgrading it.

Oh. Okay. So it's just the ram and ssd that I need to upgrade.
Sorry for asking many question but will that upgrade can handle gaming and coding?

Give it a wipe and throw in an ssd, as for cpu's your laptop is upgradeable but you'll need to dive into lenovo support to find out what cpu's that particular laptops board will support, I think for your model the one you've got is the highest. anyway I'll link the tear down guide onto this post.

How to work out your exact hardware specs I'd just google the modle part number on the base of your laptop.

A good clean out with a can of compressed air and TIM swap can improve thermals and is relatively cheap. Better thermals can mean better performance. Make sure that if you blow out your fans though you hold them so they don't spin, that can damage them.

Thanks! btw what TIM?

Depends on you actually... You can build a custom desktop for gaming if you wish so as well. As for your laptop upgrades, the only possible upgrades I can think of are storage drive and RAM, your CPU can be changed as well because of the "M" but since it is already an i7-4702MQ... There is no reason to upgrade that. And as others have mentioned, if your laptop is still using an HDD, it's time for a change to SSD, it's a huge change even though if it's just SATA3 based and you can upgrade your RAM to 8GB or 16GB if you have the cash...

Daily drivers:

Or if you can step up a bit, you can get 970M on the cheap as well for about $1.2k because of the recently released laptops with GTX 10 series GPUs :)
