Everywhere they do pascal reviews...

Jayz 2 cents EVGA SC (just a factory overclocked version of your card with the exact same pcb) reaches 2169mhz

Meanwhile, hw unboxed has the ROG strix 1070 OC and the MSI gaming X (both top of the line models from Asus and MSI), and they only reach 2000 mhz

Where as I have the less expensive (non oc) strix card that reaches 2114 mhz..

Because they want to steal customers from amazon? It's only for first time customers, you have to create a new account every time.

Its silicon lottery. Personally my Gigabyte G1 Gaming only reaches 2050mhz. I would recommend sticking to a 2 fan card if you care about acoustics. This windforce card when it goes above 60+% fan speed you can really hear it. MSI and EVGA have some really really nice 2 fan cards if your into acoustics and noise.

I dunno, my Strix card is extremely quiet, and the fans don't even turn on until 55C, and it never goes over 62c so fan speed stays at ~35-40% max. That said, it's a frickin monster that barely fits in my case without removing the hard drive bay. I'm not a fan of the black and red of msi cards, but evga ones are pretty good.

I meant when you start overclocking the card and setting custom fan curves which is almost necessary if you want to keep a more stable clock for your overclock. That means bumping up the fan speed to around 80%. The cards stock will not go over 50% fan speed by default. My card stock wont go over around 66C i think.

Yeah, even overclocked to 2114, on my custom fan curve, it only reaches 50% fan speed max, and the highest i've ever seen my card even overclocked was 65, when my house was 90F

If you look at the card side by side sitting on the table, you can see how much bigger the strix card is.

OP, probably a good video to watch. Not too in depth, but a decent comparison really.

If your a overclocker, I recommend something that has more than just a 8 pin. A lot of people are saying that the 1070 only needs a 8 pin when your overclocking. On my 1070 I only have 1 8pin. When I go to overclock and raise the powerlimit and increase the core voltage to +100 my perfcap is Power. However when I dont increase my core voltage it wont go over the power limit. But by increasing the core voltage will keep a more stable frequency on the overclock although its not needed. I would recommend the EVGA FTW or the MSI Gaming X.

I watched this too, its a good comparison and worth watching. I think the G1 gaming is about the same size as the ASUS strix right? About 11 Inches length and 2 slot card.

EVGA FTW Edition. There is also a SC edition but I would get the FTW.

I don't think the ftw edition justifies the cost, tbh.  They don't overclock any better, and unless you are going to put a custom bios on it, or really want RGB lighting that $40 could be better spent elsewhere.

The asus card is about an inch longer and an inch taller.  It might also be the different fan designs, or what have you.

If possibly more overclocking ability and RGB lights (aesthetics) are important to OP he will pay more for them. If you dont want all that, You could just get the SC edition.

Well the thread is titled "Cheapest 1070," so i took him at his word :D My point was that there's not really any proof that they overclock further. Jay got 2170 out of his SC.
