Europa Universalis IV?

Iron couch

So ive been thinking about buying Europa Universalis IV for some time now since pretty much everyone i know who owns it has hundreds of hours in it and praises it. However ive heard you NEED the dlc with the game for a good experience but i really dont want to spend over 15 bucks on the game. The game is currently on sale for a price of 10€ for standard and 23€ for the collection with all the dlc. So buy or pass? Im not gonna buy all the dlc since i just bought Overwatch a while ago and dont want to spend too much in such a small period of time.

The 23€ EUIV collection doesn't actually include all the DLC. Just the first few rounds of it.

Paradox games have two kinds of DLC, all the cosmetic stuff that really doesn't matter, and the expansions that kinda matter. When they do an expansion, pretty much all the new features are put into the base game, but some of them you'll have limited or no access to for your own gameplay. I wouldn't say you can't enjoy the game without the expansions, but there are a few of the new mechanics that you'd want access to.

If you're into really deep strategy games and don't mind setting your own goals (the gameplay is partially freeform), it's worth it.
