Guest

DoI get a 1440p 144hz or 60hz monitor with a gtx 1070 and the 144hz monitors are like $400-500 more.

Can you see the difference between 60 and 144 FPS? After seeing it, do you feel it is worth it?

I'd probably just get a 4K 60Hz monitor for the price of a 144Hz 1440p one.

If you're willing to spend $550 your best bet is this

But if 144Hz isn't wortth the price difference, this far $270

considering that GTX1070 would not hit 144fps for most games and tearing may occur thus your choice is either 1440P 60Hz or 1440 144Hz with G-sync

1440P 60Hz

I'd say this is the best option. Playing games over 60FPS is not exactly as huge a leap as 1080 to 1440.

144hz is a million years better than 60hz. Picking 60hz instead of 144hz, is like picking HDD instead of SSD.

Yeah only if you used a 144hz before. Else, you won't know what you're missing. A 144hz monitor should be only thought of as a luxury. It should be quite low on the list of priorities. Not to mention most 144hz monitors use a TN panel which is just gross. Its quite cool I guess, for a while before it starts to feel normal again. Definitely not paying 400$ more. So much better things can be spent using 400$.

The worth is decided on what you feel is most important for your gameplay. WHen you try 144hz for then first time, you will notice how smooth everything is compared to your previous 60hz monitor.

Do you really think professional players play on 144hz just for fun? there is no way you can become a world class player(or be insanely good in any FPS game) when playing on 60hz. More pictures, more details comes faster and you can react faster too. WHen playing League of legends, it isnt much of a problem ofc.

I have tried Asus pg279Q, and i did compare it to my benQ xl2411T. You know what? The benQ is just as good(for gaming), in both colors and everything. But the benQ is faster, because no IPS panels to date can match the responsetime of the TN models.

The best TN panels looks almost the same as the IPS gaming models, i have experienced it for myself. Stating otherwise is just people trying to justify that they just spent way too much money on a gaming monitor.

144hz is not a luxury. Its a must have if you want to be a good competitive player. If not, there is of course no need to rush it.

There is a reason doe, that you wont get one single person that have tried 144hz back down to 60hz.

And, its not that expensive. Its worth saving up for!

Just like its better to save up for an intel CPU and not buying a horrible amd CPU.

Also do note, playing on 1080P 60hz and buying for example a gtx1080/1070, is a very much bigger waste of cash than buying a new monitor. With only 60hz and such a powerful card, you waste over half the 1080/1070's power. Very many people does exactly that.

Yaaa, most people that plays FPS seriously would usually like the 144hz monitors over the 60hz IPS monitors. However, if you are just a average regular user that isn't crazy about FPS like me, a IPS is the way to go because IPS panels gives way better color and viewing angle, which is usually more important to people that want to use their monitor for everything from gaming to movie watching.

More frames really doesn't mean much when you play alot of Civilization 5 and tactic games :)

By that statement i know you have not tried 144hz. Everyone who hasnt tried it, would say its not that important for "the average player" ;)

The best TN panels has so good color reproduction, that you would struggle really hard to notice that difference in games! But 60hz? oh yes, that is noticeable in most games.

Sorry but i came from 144hz to ips 60hz. Alot of people make too big of deal over those extra frames when alot of people dont play alot of fps games.
