Don't think so. Power is pretty stable where I am. Any significant surge seems to trip the breaker before it takes out the fuse on the surge protector for me. I still have my PC connected to surge protectors, though. Partially because the one I try to use offers up to £3000 coverage for anything connected to it.

Yes actually, altough i cant be sure of its viability, given my power supply is also quite geared up for the events (top notch). My Eaton 650W UPS, last year, allowed my computer to stay on after the power grid went down, which i can only assume was because of the lightning storm that happened earlier in that night. It started flashing red and beep-beep xD. Was able to safely turn down my computer and turn off the UPS afterwards, altough it took me a while before i turned it off, since a single press wasnt working, so only 2 hours later when i was going to bed on that rainy and gusty night, did i long pressed it and stoped the beep-beep!

Has Power surge protectors  saved your pc before?

Well, it's cut out because of a surge, and that's how my surge protector works. I don't know if my PC would have broken, since my PC has a decent PSU.

Yes, Both myself and my grandfather are photographers. I inherited his home studio, being residential, there was a lot of dodgy hook ups, dasiy chaing power strip and plugging in studio lights in or charging stations or Nas systems.  We have both lost lost hardware or data from surges or power loss. These day we run all our good stuff off UPS boxes and then surge protectors on the more expendable equipment.

For reference I live in Australia on the side of the mountain , plenty of summer storms to come.

Yes I have had my PC and TV plugged into the same outlet, the difference was my PC was plugged into this (https://www.amazon.com/360-Electrical-36051-Outlet-Protector/dp/B00AOR2QZG/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1473950616&sr=8-8&keywords=power+strip+360) power strip, my TV was plugged directly into the wall. My TV blew when lighting striked but my PC turned off safely.

Edit: Now everything electronic in my house is plugged into one of those, they have saved my ass many times and I would strongly recommend them.

Edit 2: My bad, the link above is incorrect. The ones I use are these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AOR2R2I/ref=psdc_761520_t2_B00C0QEUCG

GPU: XFX RX 7900 XTX

CPU: Ryzen 7 7800X3D
