Hello LTT Forums. So I need help, I was wondering if neweggs refurbished items are worth the save. There is a monitor i want it is 350$ off (CAD) and i was wondering what the return policy on the item is if it comes damaged/not working 100% i also need to know  if i need to pay to ship it back to get it fixed and i need to know if they will even fix it or just refund me so im just wondering if buying refurbished items are worth it.

If it is sold by newegg, there is a section on the page clearly explaining the warranty, and return policies for every item they sell.

Most 'refurbished' items are "The person received it, plain didn't like it and sent it back."

It's pretty much guaranteed it'll work just the same, they just can't repackage something and sell it as new. And if it doesn't work for you, then all you lose is a little bit of time.

Some time on the phone with support if it's brokem is worth saving $350 don'tcha think? You don't have much to lose.

Go for it.

I won't know you're talking to me unless you reply/quote me.

I think there need to be distinct terms used in advertising between refurbished items and returned/unwanted items.  @Gravemind's definition is what I'd categorized as "returned".  There is also "open box" which overlaps somewhat, I think.

To me, a refurbished item means it was returned broken or at least cosmetically not up to new condition, and was "refurbished". (I suppose you could also say "repaired", then in increasing order of work done, "restored" & "remanufactured/rebuilt".  Most consumer electronics wouldn't see the latter category, but some expensive/valuable cars and acoustic musical instruments do.)

Also are restocking fees usually there to cover the fact they can't sell a returned item as new?  What about when the product is returned with the factory seal still intact?
