Hi LTT community,

What do you guys think of my PC parts list? It's at http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/ZwXpBP . Be as critical as you like!

I'm not totally sure about the case I've chosen. I really like the style of the dark base 900, and it comes with BeSilent's own fans, which is cool. Also, it's spacious, so can probably comfortably accommodate all my components. I'm not 100% sure how to make sure that all the parts do actually fit in the case though.

Also, I'm a bit stuck on the PSU. I want to have 2 RX 480s at some point in the future, but not for a while. I'm not sure if I should buy a 500watt PSU now and replace it later, or buy a 700-750watt PSU and keep it for ages. What do you guys recommend?

Many thanks guys!

P.S: even though I've brought a bunch of things already, I can still get them fully refunded, so no parts are final.

If you are not going to O.C your CPU right now and if you are going to upgrade your cooler than go for it. Otherwise you can reduce the price of your case and spend that extra money on a good CPU Cooler. ex: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/rgW7RG

Why don't you refund rx 480 and get gtx 1070?

Not in the same price range.

EDIT: nvm yous has more capacity

It was Prime day so I got it cheap! I'll use it for like 6 months until I fill it up with stuff, then buy an HDD.

Interesting. I'm not really planning on overclocking much though. My MoBo has adequate overclocking ability only. IS water cooling really worth that much though?

You definitely need 750W for rx 480 cf, and I don't think the case is not worth the price. It is such an exotic case for your build. Phanteks p400 or pro m would be big enough to fit your build.

Is it terrible that it would be running at low efficiency though? Because most are optimal at like 85% of their stated load.

Also, do you know how to verify a PSU has the correct cable combination?

What PSU you are using?

Don't buy PSU , just looking at it's efficiency. First look at the build quality (quality of capacitors, board design ) of the PSU than performance ( ripple , noise ) than efficiency. I would like to buy 80+ bronze PSU over 80+ gold ( If the build quality of bronze is better than gold ).

Air cooler:

Pro :

1) Easy to repair : only fan will stop working. If that happen , you can easily replace that with a new static pressure fan.

2) Tension Free : Once installed, you don have worry about anything

Cons :

1) Good for mild over clocking, not for pushing your CPU at it's limit

2) You have care full about CPU temp

Note :- Cooler master hyper 212x, evo,.. isn't that good for O.C

Water cooler:

Pro :

1) Much bigger Over clocking headroom

2) You don't have to worry about CPU temp

Cons:

1) Hard to repair : If Pump stop working you have to buy a new one ( didn't happen to me )

2) Tension of leakage of water. ( didn't happen to me )

Thanks for the heads up!

So ATM, I'm just going to get a decent 500 watt psu to stay in budget. It will probably be multiple years before I get another graphics card, so I'll just buy a bigger one when the time is right.

I think with most of my games, they'll be GPU bottlenecked ATM. Also, since it's my 1st DIY PC build, it's probably better to be a little safer :P.
