Not sure really where to ask this other then here.

I am upgrading my gaming pc from

Asus Z87 Sabertooth Mark 1
Intel Core i5-4440
16GB DDR3-1866 Adata
Asus Strix NVIDIA GTX 970 4GB
Intel 530 256GB SSD Boot
Seagate 3TB 7200rpm HDD Storage

I have ordered the Following
Asus Z170 Sabertooth Mark 1
Intel Core i7-6700K
16GB DDR4-3000 Corsair Vengeance LED
MSI ARMOR NVIDIA GTX 1080 8GB
OCZ RD400 NVME M.2 256GB SSD Boot
Intel 530 256GB SSD Backup
Seagate 3TB 7200rpm HDD Storage

My Question's are, I have a 4K Dell 60hz Monitor, and my previous setup wouldn't play much of anything at 4K at more then 20fps, will this get me to 50fps or better (BF1, Overwatch, GTA V, No Mans Sky)
Also, did I do a good combination of parts? Truth be told, I was a PC builder and Tech enthusiast for a long time, but haven't kept up with everything for the last 2 years, so with everything new and me not following the news, I took a guess and past experience and thought this would be a good general setup. Thoughts?

30-40FPS at ultra, probably 50 or more at med-high. What PSU?

Should've mentioned that, haha, same on both, It's a EVGA SuperNOVA NEX650G 650W Modular PSU 80+ Gold. I love it and the handle it has on the back, it's come in handy so many times.

It's easy to find this info...Youtube search those games running at 4K on a GTX1080

People love uploading performance video's.

You'd get the info you need, and what to expect.

TBH - (4K, I see the same performance on my GTX970 when testing some games in 4K)

The GTX970 was holding you back a lot , and IMO it was all that was needed to be replaced for the experience your after. (4K GPU Bound Scenarios)

But new parts are fun too :P

But yeah, Youtube search GTX1080 4K and the game name.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Eh it'll be good enough to run your system but the quality is pretty meh. It'll be fine though.

Really? I've found it to be the best quality one I've ever owned, I've had it for 3 1/2 years (bought it on sale at newegg for $40). Haha

Wouldn't the i7 and DDR4 affect performance also? Not just the 1080? It felt like my CPU (i5-4440) was bottlenecking the 970 actually especially in BF1. CPU would be maxed and cpu at 80-90%

You acutally have no reason to upgrade your CPU until Cannonlake comes out. Yours is good enough.

Idk, my i5-4440 was kind of crappy, I wanted an unlocked CPU and now that DDR4 was out, wanted to be somewhat up to date now that DDR3 is being phased out.

PSU is fine then.

The 1080 is around 50fps depending on what game at ultra, but medium settings should all be fine overall. If you find noise a big factor might go for another type. The MSI armor cooler seems to be a lesser one compared to their gaming series for example.

Not sure how well the OCZ drive performs, but thought seeing in a test you could better opt for a samsung or intel one. But not sure what the prices are.

Ofcourse your money but for gaming not sure thats all worth it anyway and notice real difference in your use scenario. A decent normal SSD also does the trick I think.

For the RAM 2133 or 2400 is good enough. You won't notice that difference either (besides your wallet) apart for very specific situations that most likely don't apply.

Other then that seems a nice setup, but your CPU cooler fits the 1151 platform? Otherwise you need CPU cooler since the K versions have no stock coolers anymore. Not sure if there is a difference between the 2 btw.

The i7 would increase your experience greatly, but is variable game to game obviously,..memory speeds and such play a role when your CPU IS Tapped out, but less of an improvement when your not.

GTX 970 BF1 performance? Not 65-90fps 1080p/Ultra? (Beta so obviously I cant outright say it SHOULD be that way) but am surprised it gave the feeling of issues.

Either way, the older CPU likely would have been fine (at 4K) and your newer one is going to perform faster by some margin.

The GTX1080 is the real showstopper here, Even if you have to lower settings.... shadows and msaa (if available) should bring back enough performance to enjoy it and still retain a lot of Image quality.

Yeah, Not expecting to notice anything extremely different with the OCZ Drive over my Intel one since it's already nice, but my SSD is getting old after 3 years, and I like the M.2 Form factor.

Ram speed was definitely confusing for me on DDR4, so much conflicting information, so I just went with the 3000, didn't really know better, it was $95 so not to bad, about the same as getting decent DDR3 ram at 16gb.

Pretty sure my cooler will work, it's a Corsair H80i, that I've used for the last 2 years on 1155 and 1150. Should work no?

Yeah honestly think it was my CPU holding it back, it would only get to medium-high 1080p at 60fps, CPU fully maxed and the GPU at 80-90~%. Could be a beta bug, but still think it was a bottleneck as it's done it in other games too.

The 950 Pro is a cheaper and overall better performing solution then the OCZ if you really want NVME ssd. Think all Z170 mobo support NVME correctly but check that out to be sure, otherwise you buy an expensive thing that isn't fully utilized, and that would be a sad thing.

And yeah, think that the H80i is no prob for 1151. To what I know is both same for fitting.
