Auto show New Replies

Hiya,

 

As we all know if there is a new reply in a thread that we are currently viewing a little box comes up in the bottom left saying 'show replies'.

 

But what if users could have a handydandy setting to automatically show new replies in a thread when viewing? I know it's not a necessity for the forums, but it would be a nice feature to have. It will still have the line that shows you when there has been a new post from when you last viewed it. A popup box could still come up saying that there are 'X new replies'.

I think it would be a good idea, but I have a feeling that there is a reason it is the way it is and would be very difficult to change.

This could get annoying if you're writing out a reply to a popular topic, and keep needing to scroll down because new replies are being added to the page. Also, because it's a javascript issue, unfortunately it is very difficult to implement without going through the forum software developers, and they rarely read suggestions, and even more rarely actually implement them.

Sure it could be annoying, but if people choose to turn it on they have chosen to deal with it.
