Pros or cons?

Morbidos

so... I'm currently running 2x GTX570 DCII's in SLI, but it's just not enough, the cards are too old I am afraid, so I have put together a little list of cards I like, Has anyone got any pro's or cons on these?

1080
1070
1060
980
R9 Fury
XFX Radeon RX 480 8GB RS

Now I should note, that I plan on watercooling the card(s) I end up with, and I know that is not possible with the 1060 but I threw it in there based on price actually...

oh and if someone has a different card to recommend, shout!

I do alot of gaming and rendering on high end games so that's what I need it for!

1060 or 480 max. Anything more will get severely bottlenecked

If you can afford it, the 1080 will give the most general performance of the lot. Obviously check if the specific card in question has a waterblock available as required.

Only if the budget limits you lower down does the arguments arise from AMD vs nvidia, where you have to guess if the possible longer term benefit  AMD may have in DX12/Vulkan outweighs nvidia's lower power consumption for the price or performance level.

9590 is not powerful enough to keep a 1070/1080/980 Ti/Fury X fed

It's an old CPU. That's just how things go.

bulldozer and piledriver might have fantastic clockspeed and a nice and cheap w/ alot of cores , but there old (2011) and the IPC was mediocre back then , if you can afford it , got for an I5 6600k + 1070 , as much as i love amd , FX is dead , lets hope zen will be gud (maybe wait for zen eh? , get a 1070 now , upgrade next year to zen )

Hold your horses... 2011 is a bit steep... it's not the old FX series...

as i sayd , sadly a bit lackluster nowadays , 2 things you can do , get a 1070 now AND an 6600k  OR wait for zen and run the 1070 in the 9590 , ( i always wanted one of those , how the hell do you keep it cool tho? )

Mine is a Vishera

It has been a trend the past few years, wanna go high end Video cards, never go with AMD. Its sad, but thats how it is.

When on a budget you dont buy high end video cards, you might go with amd(not everytime the best bank/buck option) and in that case you dont buy 300$ video card :)

You might wanna consider buying only 1060/480 and using the difference in price between those 2 and 1080 to upgrade to intel :-/ I know its like a punch in the gut when you find out you dont need to only change gpu, but thats how it is sadly.

I myself have one Main PC with Intel and high end gpu. And one small 500$ super small build with AMD 7890k with integrated GPU when i want a desktop PC and very very small build :)

This thread will make me eat my words, I'm sure of it... I have said I will never buy Intel.... I might have to switch after 16 years of being an AMD fanboy... DOOH!

This is how I keep it cool...

Yea but... do we know the zen will be any good or are we going to trust AMD on that? having struggled with the latest CPU/GPU's they have put out...(now also including mine apparently)

They shown in the showcase i think that it is as fast or faster as an "unknown intel CPU" which was from what i remember very similar to 6600k or 6700k dont know now :-/
