This is my revised PC build. I have an approximate budget of 1250-1350 on just the PC (not including accessories).

I know a lot of you guys are going to comment on how my accessories suck, but I think Logitech was the best balance between all 3 peripherals, as I would prefer all my peripherals to be one brand.

I would ditch the thermal paste, what comes with the cooler is going to be fine.

 

I would personally opt for a cheaper SSD and try to put the extra money in my pocket or towards more mass storage. You can get a 240GB ADATA SSD for $60 and a 2TB Seagate drive for about the same price.

 

I'm not a fan of the price of those peripherals. I think you might be able to do better there price wise.

The peripherals go on sale a lot, they're just price right now. And... didn't realize the thermal paste that came with the H7 was that good. Ditching the Artic Silver .

So I've picked out all of my parts, but I'm having one problem. Color Scheme. I'm going with a blue and black color scheme, but the only component in my build that is actually blue is the ram (other than the LED fans on the case). Should I go with all black or keep the LED ram? I'm going to probably install a Hue+ anyways.

No reason to go all out with a HUE+, just get a cheaper single-color LED in either white or blue

Build looks fine. If you want more blue, how about a blue motherboard?

I just mean in general I don't see much of a reason to spend $60 on it in general if most of the colors won't fit your theme anyways

I get what you're saying, but I'll probably not get the Hue+ until very late in the upgrade process, and I'll most likely be using it for displaying multiple shades of blue.

You just download the ISO from microsoft and use RUFUS to make a bootable USB stick

maybe just me, Win 8 had 8 hours of battery life on my laptop, windows 10 gives me 5 from a fresh install

 

 

but what's your display? If you only have a 1080p display a 1070 is pretty overkill, you'd be better off with a display upgrade as part of that budget, and what are you using your PC for?

I have a 1080p display currently, I feel like 4k is too expensive. Does RUFUS work well?

Then ya upgrade your display lol, 4k isn't expensive actually, there's a $299 28" 4k TN free-sync display, you'd run AAA games at 1080p high-ultra still, but some games will run at 4k even on an RX 480, namely your dota 2s, civilization and light indie games

RUFUS is about the best

Also just performance per dollar build here, $1200 including that display, which obviously won't be the best ever, but it will be solid for the money, I need to pick one up sometime

I can change my processor down to a 6600k. I'm fine with that, and I can add that monitor. Just one question about it. I've heard that IPS creates better colors than TN, but IPS 4K monitors are pretty expensive. Are there budget 4K IPS monitors?

I updated it and linked one, those are under $500, namely the free-sync LG -B one, there's also another LG one that I can't remember the name of
 

the i7 6700 is going to be better than the i5 6600K, namely because you save a bit on the motherboard and then have 4ghz turbo + hyper threading Vs 4.5ghz avg OC with only 4 cores/threads, overall probably 30-40% better multi-tasking with minimal fps loss, here's an i7 6700 vs the K part with only a 10fps difference at max in most games, still well over 60fps

just get an H170 board with the i7 if you want more motherboard features than the basic board there, although that board already has USB 3.1 and solid power delivery

and then you can always get a Fury something if you want to take advantage of free-sync, but I'd highly suggest you just stick to the RX 470/480 because Vega will be out at some point for AMD's high end, and if nothing else the nvidia high end cards will drop in price by then

just be sure to get an after market card, the 470 might be the way to go given 480 pricing and availability atm, performance is within 10%

I think I'm still going to stick with my processor and GPU, but I think I might go for this G257HU because it has IPS and is still cheap, sacrificing the display quality, as it's only 1440p.
