Building A PC for Gaming And Work

Bobis32

I was wondering what a good value build for heavy CAD render and design work with high preformance gaming as a secondary aspect of it my thoughts are ( http://pcpartpicker.com/list/xRRKXH ) note i already have the PSU CD Drive and SSD Budget 1800 USD Note 2 Color theaming is important for me i will be painting the Cooler of the GPU

120mm radiators are a no-no, I would go for a better air cooler

I would hesitate to pay for 3200Mhz ram because it depends on your cpu whether it will reach those speeds or not -silicon lottery sort of-

Shipping sucks

I pretty sure you will never need RAM that fast. Just get sum that are clase to ~2800 MHz. Also, you don't need a full tower case, as you don't have a E-ATX MoBo. http://www.corsair.com/en-us/crystal-series-460x-rgb-compact-atx-mid-tower-case would be better.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH YOUR LIFE GETTING A 1000W PSU FOR SOMETHING THAT USES LIKE 300W? Get a EVGA 650W P2.

This is absolute right.

I would go with a smaller formfactor.

2D or 3D Cad?

this tells, that you will be fine with a gaming GPU for CAD. 1080 would be the best choice now. the benchmarks are outdated but show the tendence.

i say that i already own the PSU its from a build that took almost 900w and here is an updated list with a smaller form factor and slower RAM http://pcpartpicker.com/list/JVPFsJ since i will be gaming at 1080 p there is no point in getting a 1070 in my opinion 1060 is fast enough for 1080p gaming

Don't go with "non-major" brands for cases. They may not have all the features you need. I think this may be a good one. https://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-Enthoo-EVOLV-Chassis-PH-ES515E_BK/dp/B00YQKYXEO or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16811854040

Note: Use the SSDs in RAID 1 to protect data.

Also, I chose the 6800K for the workstation part of your build.

Use the 2 drives in RAID 1

beautiful list and the case is one of the best in my eyes. Clean design  and can handle the 5,25drive.

But i yould try to get a 1080 due to the 2560 CUDA Cores. (1070 has 1920 CUDA Cores).

I thinks it´s worth to handle around with the other parts.

Sure you won´t get doubled performence in games but it can save you a lot of time rendering.

Hi Bobis32,

I know the " Swiftech H140-X 90.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler " is superfancy and bling but it is "only" 140mm. You can easily find a 240mm AIO for a better price. the white theme would go nice with the CRYORIG A40 Ultimate Hybrid Liquid Cooler 240mm

Another part is the Mainboard: how About the ASRock X99 Taichi LGA 2011-v3. It has won a lot of awards and the tecklike theme with the gears is gorgeous.

Furthermore you could try 16GB Ram first and in case you need more, upgrade. I have 32GB right now and the only point is video editing for me.

BTW: I fear we made a mistake. The only Ethno Evolv, that can handle a bluerayDrive is the mATX (the small one). So you need to reconsider your build.

If you can renounce the drive and want a white theme you can go with the H 400. It is a beautiful case with many features.

If you want to keep what you have the only white case that comes to my mind is the Ethno-Pro by phantecs. Not a design case but it is very solid.

If you want to stay with the drive and the Ethno Evolv. you need a smaller Mainboard and a smaller PSU or no remove the HDD cage.

If that´s the case and you need advice feel free to ask.
