My buddy juan plays dayz, and for some reason he's having some issues with it:

Its his connection to the server, does it happen with all the servers he tries to join?

Reinstall windows

He said he's already done that before he re-installed windows, he'll try again and report back to me in a few.

Tell him to launch arma 2 beta .exe and enable the addons for which mod he wants to play then just search for server with the ingame server browser.

Weirdly it sounds like a port forwarding issue which is very uncommon with dayz or arma 2 for that matter. I don't know the port range that should be open for dayz but I'm sure if you google it, it will be very easy to find. Have him do that and report back if it fixed it or not.
