so yes, my gpu is dead on arrival, i bought it on outlet PC and when arrived it never worked. it was a 700$ msi gtx 1080 armor oc edition. i have done all kind of troubleshooting on my pc. i have tested on two of my friends pc. the card is dead. no post.  so i contacted outletpc and (because im new to this and stupid) i threw away the box. so yea my retailer warranty is void.  my last hope is the manufcaturers warranty. but i have no idea how that works. MSI doesn't answer my posts on their page. i dont know what to do.

so the questions.

1) how does msi warranty work? do i just get a replacement card? do i have to pay anything for it?

2) how do i make msi to actually answer me? x.x

3) shud i just discard all the warranty and just cook it in the oven?

PS. i have done every kind of troubleshooting possible(without removing the cards screws since that voids msi warranty). i have tested the card on 3 pcs (and my friend has a working 1080 on his mobo), that includes 3 psus with mine being evgas 750w GQ and his being the same. all the slots on mine and his mobo. etc... nothing else to be done but to admit the card was DoA and i need a replacement.

Go to MSI's webpage where they actually handle warranty requests.

  1. Assuming they approve the RMA they will probably send you a new card. You may have to pay shipping to send the old card back to them, but otherwise you shouldn't have to pay anything.
  2. Don't use the forum, e-mail or call their support service directly. Forum posts are not the way to get answers from official sources.
  3. That's quite literally the last thing you should do.

I don't think your warranty coverage has anything to do with whether or not you still have the box. Unless MSI told you that, I guess.

there's this thing called a telephone, and if you push the buttons that are found on their support website on the telephone, you eventually talk to someone on the other end to get this resolved.

i know, i know, it's scary talking to people. don't worry. I BELIEVE IN YOU!

It won't be instantaneous, give it a day or two.

DO NOT COOK IT IN THE OVEN!!!!! That method doesn't work (even thou it worked once for Linus if you watch the followup video you would know not too do that)

Just call the MSI hotline and tell them.

Where do you live for example in Germany where i live the retailer is forced by law to accept warranty even without the box.

It is, but forums are usually just for users to discuss things and maybe help each other to cut down on the number of unnecessary support requests. MSI CSRs might chime in occasionally but you probably can't rely on that. The proper channel is to either create a support ticket or call them.

@SLAYR It was #3 on the OP's list of questions. :P

Oh my mistake, I guess I read "posts" and associated it with forums. Um, not sure why they aren't responding. How long has it been? I suppose it's normal that it takes a day or so, but calling might be quicker anyway.
