so apparently my CPU is heating up to 90+ degrees :oand my PC is letting out a loud beep noise. I suspect that my CPU fan(intel stock fan) which has a lot of dust is the cause of the issue although it might be because of the lack of heat transfer between the CPU and fan as my thermal compound is very old or it might mean that I need to get better CPU fans/water cooling(not too sure bout that cuz my PC is just prebuild+gtx 750ti).I am planning to clean my CPU fan but I'm also worried that when I remove the CPU fan the old thermal compound does not do its job as well when I put it back(i don't have any thermal compound right now and I'm not planning to risk damaging my PC by using toothpaste lol).So my question is will cleaning my CPU fan and 'destroying' the link of my thermal compound with the CPU fan and CPU improve my current situation (which is having dusty CPU fan+ normal 'link' in the CPU)?

If the thermal paste is hardened,I would wait to get new thermal paste, it will just make the problem worse if you try to reuse  it.

Aren't you forgetting to tell us something? Say, your PC specs?

Anyhow, first measure would be to grab new thermal paste (if you don't already have it) for a full cooler removal, dust cleaning and paste reapplication. That's the first guess. If yours is OC, removing your OC is another great measure, possibly even underclocking / undervolting a little to tyr and keep thermals in check.

Double check to make sure that the plastic clips are pushed down all the way through the board. If they are and your temps are still high, the problem is probably the thermal paste.
