By definition, it's one of the most advanced display connections out there for the consumer world. It's capable of concurrent, multiple video streams, 4K 60Hz, monitor data, daisy-chaining, backwards compatibility with HDMI, VGA, DVI, stereoscopic 3D, adaptive-sync (often marketed as FreeSync by AMD and G-Sync by Nvidia) and global timecode.

Response time is actually something that is entirely dependant on the monitor. The connection used doesn't affect it at all.

If we're talking input delay, then the connection could affect it. However, there is no discernible difference in transmission time between any of the digital video interfaces.

Backwards compatibility with VGA?
How can a digital connector be backwards compatible to an analog connector? o.O

Does a displayport has a slower response time?

Nope.

There are active displayport to VGA adapters.

inb4 you think that is not true backwards compatibility.

In my opinion that is absolutly not how native backwards compatibility works, but since there is no standard for it, I'll give that to you 9_9
Btw: Those are not called active adapters. Whoever came up with that term should get killed.
