Hello,

ASRock boards such as mine (ASRock H170A-X1) got the function that the USB ports are still powered when the PC is turned off. A useful function for charging your smartphone or others. However, I don't need that function and it makes my mouse shine all the time. Of course I could just plug it off but I don't want to do that everytime, especially when people are telling me, that you can turn that off im the Bios. But I didn't find anything there, which doesnt mean, that there is nothing :D

So my question: What do I have to do to make sure the USB ports are not powered when my PC is off?

Thanks : )

There should only be a few USB ports powered up, if all the ports are powered up when your PC is off something is wrong

Desktop: i7-6700K / Asus Z170 S / H100i V2 / LPX 2400Mhz 16GB / 960 EVO 250GB / 2x 860 EVO 500GB / RM750i  / NZXT H440 XB271H + Z22n Monitors

Laptop: Thinkpad T450s / i7-5600U / 12GB / 860 EVO 500GB

different manufacturers do different things with their USB power.

- some mobos kill all usb power

- some mobos kill all usb power except for certain headers (for example a "charge" port)

- some mobos keep the usb power on, but make usb devices go into some kind of standby (dont ask me how they do this, that's not really my area of expertise)

- some mobos just dont care and keep everything going

- some mobos are configurable.

All the ports are powered up, even in the front. But I don't think that there is something wrong. This motherboard is brand new, I got it yesterday and everything works fine.

There's probably some driver issue preventing your system from fully shutting down, download and install all the latest drivers
