5Ghz Connection Problem

Go to solution Solved by Cepheus_001,

Found the problem. I am able to connect to the 5ghz wifi, but there was a problem with my drivers in the advanced menu. I didn't switch the wireless mode to 802.11ac. I found an article about this and it solved the problem. thanks for the help though! I learned a bit more about my internet. :D

I've looked for a long time. I check my wireless adapter manuals/website and looked at my router's manuals/website. I still can't connect to the 5ghz wifi. I know that both router and adapter are capable of doing AC wireless, but how do I enable it or access the AC wireless or 5ghz wifi? Can anyone help me?

Specs:

Edimax USB 3.0 Wireless Adapter

Bell Home Hub 2000 wireless router

Do you see the 5ghz network as an option when you try to connect to Wifi? If not, is the 5ghz band enabled in your routers control panel? Is your client device in range of the router's 5ghz band (note: 5ghz doesn't penetrate walls particularly well)?

when I use my IP to login to the router it shows a page of what device are connected to which networks. They both share the same SSID and password. I've tried changing either of these so they would show up separately, but no such luck. my adapter can't see it. how do I get my computer to see the 5GHz connection?

As stated above. 5Ghz has distance and penetration limits. Do you have other devices on 5Ghz?

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.

My router is right above me on the main level. the current computer I'm trying to get on 5ghz is in the basement. I think that's close enough. it should be less that 5 meters away from me.

Whats the floor made out of. It makes a diffrence. Going through roughly 2 walls made of Drywall and plaster, wood construction of course. I was loosing 30% signal strength. If you have another device that uses 5Ghz like a phone, Id try to see if you can connect with that. Maybe try to connect next to the router to verify its broadcasting 5Ghz.

Do you have a phone, tablet, laptop, etc... that you could bring next to the router?

Can you also open up the router management page and take a few screenshots of the wireless settings. (blocking out any personal information of course).
