So, I have a Dell inspiron 14 3000 Laptop. It's storage device is a 32GB eMMC drive. Normally not an issue, unless I want to install Linux? Apparently the BIOS does not support SD card boot, and I've ended up installing the OS to a 256GB USB 3.0 flash drive. It works flawlessly, sure, but I'd rather not have the operating system OUTSIDE of the computer? xD Does anyone know of a BIOS that supports eMMC (SD) boot? Or a way that I can boot off of the eMMC drive either way?

It's like food for the soul, but it's a drink for the body.

If I boot from the USB or from a Live Disk, yeah, it shows the drive. Distro is Mint 18 Xfce (I'm sorry I do not know the kernel version)

Does that drive show up in the installer?

Can you put grub on it?

So you can install it on the flash, but it won't boot from there?

No? SD isn't a boot option? I've said that part, I'm sure. On the other part, no, I've not. This is specifically a BIOS problem. eMMC is recognized as an SD device, and is not a supported boot function. Apparently there's some fun little lock Microsoft has implemented on installing unsigned software as well? I really don't know how I'd go about installing GRUB.

Try turing off secure boot. Try turning on legacy boot.

I've done that, unfortunately to no avail. I appreciate your help, I'd like to say in the meantime.
