Choosing hdd for storage.

Go to solution Solved by 79wjd,

I'd go with the blue. Although, do know that the >1tb blues are actually WD Greens and have aggressive head parking. That's fine for a desktop environment, but if you're going to frequently watch movies or put it in a server you could run into longevity issues.

I am looking to get a 6TB hdd from WD. The two I  looking at are the blue and black models. It will be used for storage of movies and TV shows.

They are both SATA 3 models the question I have is will the 5400 rpm from the blue drive be a problem. There is a $70 difference in the drives.

unless you need speed, then no. but if you're keeping your games on the drive, and want them to load marginally faster, then faster platter speed will help
