Gigabyte z170x gaming gt error 55

guyrulz

Hello

I am assembling a new pc and i am encountering an error

Specs:

Gigabyte Z170X Gaming Gt

I7 6700K

8X2 HyperX Furry 3000 Mhz Savage

Asus GTX 1080

SSD 120GB Sandisk

2tb HDD Caviar black

650W Seasonic Gold power supply

All parts are brand new

I assembled the pc as per instructions and after the error reassembled still no good

The error shows on the motherboard code 55 which is a memory problem

people on the internet after a google search said to use 2133 mhz ram which is not overclocked

I bought kingston 2133 mhz ram ddr4 still same error

tried different combinations with 1 slot to 4 slots and every combination possible with no avail still same error

Also looked really good with a light and magnifying glass no bent pins or anything cpu\motherboard

I am hopeless now looking for someone who experienced this problem

Thank you

Does it boot with just 1 ramstick installed?

If so, then update the bios firstly.

no it does not boot with 1 stick in any slot

I tried using q flash with a usb stick but nothing comes on screen with or without a graphics card

Q-flash does indeed show nothing on the screen.

there is a led on the back on the board wenn you push the qflash button on the back of the motherboard if i´m right.

That starts blinking, but you need to rename the bios cab file correctly i think.

But basicly it atleast should boot with a single stick of ram.

Unless the ram isnt compatible.

did you rename the bios file correctly, and put it on a fat32 formatted usb stick, inserted in the correct usb port, white one.

Still strange that the system doesnt boot with one ramstick atall.

unless the ram is not compatible, but that would be highly unlikely.

But it could also be faulty ram.

rename the file!?!?

the .bin file should be extracted from the archive - only ASUS has some weird ass requirements for BIOS updates

Maybe your ram could be faulty.

I have 2 kits

8x2 3000 mhz ddr 4 by kingston hyperx savage

4x2 2133 mhz ddr4 kingston

both are brand new from the box tested on another computer and working

Okay thanks for the clearification.

Well then RMA your motherboard.

Most likely an issue with the motherboard.

The Gigabyte Z170 Gaming GT is one of Gigabyte´s higherend motherboards.

It should basicly work out of the box with a single ram stick atleast.

if it doesnt work with a single stick at all, nomatter which ram slot he tries.

Then there is most likely something wrong with his motherboard.

Gigabyte will most likely replace it.

Sometimes the bios can be a bit picky atleast the first bios versions from last year.

However with a 2133mhz kits it should basicly work.

Issue with the cpu should basicly give a diffrent error.

However a not seated properly cpu, or dead cpu could also lead to strange post code readouts.

But with socket 1151 there is very little that could go wrong with cpu seating, if you use common sense.

if you RMA the mobo, ask them to update the BIOS for you
