Hi!

I plan to game at 1080p 144hz. I'm not a complete nub when it comes to pcs, but this is the first I plan to build from scratch (previously only replaced parts of a prebuilt one).

Will this work? Any thoughts or considerations I ought to think about when making this large investment? Are these the right parts to buy or should I wait until better come? I will buy in October when money comes in. Also will this motherboard cause any issues as it's quite cheap.

i would ditch the 1080 if you arent going for 1440P 144hz or 4k gaming in the comming 2 years and get a 1070, especially if you are like me and swap cards every 2 generations, the 1070 wil be able to run anything at 144hz 1080p and many games at 1440p 100hz+, also if you could save a bit on a lower powerd psu, 600watt is more than enough if you never plan to sli.

CPU:R7 5800X    Motherboard: asrock x470 taichi ultimate   RAM: 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws-V 2X16GB    GPU: Gigabyte GTX1080TI gaming oc 11g   Case: Corsair 600Q Storage: 1TB Samsung 870(boot), samsung 850evo 500GB, 2TB Corsair MX500, samsung 2TB 970 evo plus, WD 5TB black    PSU: Corsair AX860    CPU cooling: Corsair H105

I kind of agree to you, because gtx 1070 would be enough to get at least 144hz in max setting in games, such as overwatch, but 1070 is not powerful enough to get continous 144hz 1080p in AAA games. There are a lot of benchmarks in this channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLxUxftBRS-3_HxOd9aQPRw/videos

Here's a build with 1080: http://pcpartpicker.com/list/W3B9r7
