You would think that they could be cheaper. The only thing that could cost a lot would be the tubes themselves.

One can buy the kit without tubes for around $50, tubes cost another arround $40 ish.

 

Cheapest I found to get a 6 didget clock was like $100

4 didget was like $70

It would be nice to find a schematic for one so I could just ha e some PCBs made. It would probably be less than $40 including the tubes. A batch of 10 PCBs is only $14 and another $10 in jelly bean parts. Then you would just have to find cheap nixie tubes.
