I was watching Jay Leno's garage and they use Evan's waterless coolant in all their vehicles. I got to thinking if you wanted a matinence free custom loop this seems like a good option. There'd be not algae and the coolant is engineered to prevent electrolysis. Is there anyone that uses this kind of thing? Is it practical? Should Linus try it in his personal rig? I think that would be an interesting video.

ethylene glycol and propylene glycol are both commonly used in AIOs already.... Not the best things in the world for custom loops though for a few reasons.

Welcome to the Forums!

As mentioned it is a blend of the two but both of those chemicals but they aren't as efficient as normal distilled water mixes, it would have about less than 50% the specific heat capacity of regular distilled water.

  • 1 year later...

Didn't Jaytwocents run a glycol coolant in his test bench and had some issues a few months down the line.

EDIT: Mineral oil is very safe to run in a loop, BUT it is thicker which means you need a good pump. and it hardens your tubes.
